This year’s film festival has expanded to all 3 nights in the yoga tent, located in the global healing village. Films will include groundbreaking documentaries as well as eco-activist short films. Getting DirtyFilmed in Baja California "Getting Dirty Cob Building and Community" a short film produced by Earth films as part of a series that will explore positive solutions to man made environmental problems. In "Getting dirty" we look at house building with cob (mud, straw and clay) this film is not a how-too but is a personal story of how building with Cob can be a tool to make the change you want to see using your own two hands.

TREE SIT - The Art of Resistance

Tree Sit - The Art of ResistenceThis controversial documentary takes place amidst the redwood rainforest of Humboldt County where young activists have taken the art of resistance to new heights. Surrounded by clear cuts while perched in the high canopy of ancient forests for extended periods of time, activists such as Julia Butterfly Hill (and dozens of others), have used non-violent direct action and civil disobedience to slow down the chainsaws and bring attention to the destruction of old growth forests. This film is historical, exhilarating, informative, and intense! Featuring Joan Baez, Bonnie Raitt, Woody Harrelson and Mickey Hart.

The Eyes of Gaia - A Solution to the Pollution (15 minutes)
Produced by Nicola Peel A film about how Mushrooms are helping to clean up the in the Ecuadorian Amazon. This short film shows how the Ecuadorian Amazon Mycor-renewal Team initiated the first ever clean up using Mycro-remediation in the Amazon. Mycro-remediation is an incredible technique using fungi to break down oil and other contaminants. www.EyesofGaia.com A Cry for the Forest (10 minutes) Produced Earth Films A visual poem that uses only images and music to blend spiritual awareness and political action . Opening with images of the pristine Headwaters Redwood forest with it's sublime beauty, the music leads us to the disturbing reality of modern corporate logging practices, with slow aerial footage of clear cuts. From here we lead you to the incredible direct action of Earth First! and Julia Butterfly who lived in a tree that was ultimately saved. The film ends with a tearful Julia touching the ground for the first time in 2 years!

In Resistance to Oil (10min)
Produced by Nicola Peel 400 Indigenous Indians meet deep in the Amazon to unite in their opposition to oil mining and military presence in their ancestral territory. Faces painted, feather headdresses and spears show a glimpse into their traditional life. Wise words show the depth of their understanding and feelings to those exploiting their homeland.

Striptease to Save the Trees (10min)
Produced by Penelope Andrews This short movie tells the story of La Tigresa (aka Dona Nieto, a poet/activist who came to stop the clear cutting of old growth redwood forests in Mendocino, California with the power of a poem and her bare breasts. All hand held and shot on DV "Striptease to Save the trees" uses powerful earth goddess inspired folk music to highlight La Tigresa’s actions and poems. Laya Project is an award-winning audio-visual journey through the folk communities of 6 countries affected by the 2004 tsunami. It is a personal and collective musical tribute to the resilience of the human spirit, a celebration of sound. Laya Project’s musicians are the people of coastal and surrounding communities in regions of Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia, Maldives, Myanmar and India. The production creates a composition that mixes and enhances the original recordings, and embarks on a visual and musical journey crossing borders, while preserving the music of the people.
